Hammerand Farm with Walter & Dorothy Hammerand

What do you have this week for Thanksgiving shoppers?
We have lots of traditional Thanksgiving foods like potatoes, carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. We also have cranberries that were grown up near Hillsboro, Wisconsin. Our 100% organic coleslaw mix would make a good side dish – just add your own dressing. Canned goods like pickles and jam are also good for the holidays.

What are folks going to find at your stand that they can’t get elsewhere?
We like to try different things like pickled asparagus, groundcherry jam, organic whole-wheat donuts, pickled watermelon, cranberry bread. Our eggs are also 100% organic.

Your farm is organic, but tell us about the investments that you’ve made in renewable energy.
We installed 48 – 3′ x 5′ photovoltaic solar panels that provide power for our house and the cold storage for our vegetables. They were installed by a local contractor from the Fennimore area.
